New Member Welcome Letter

Dear New Member,

Welcome to Cox HealthPlans! We appreciate the opportunity to provide coverage for your health care needs. Our saying Thinking Health Forward means many things to us when it comes to our member’s care. We strive to provide our members with the highest quality of care as well as the resources needed to reach those goals. We encourage you to take advantage of the important resources and information below.  

Step 1 – Establish your Primary Care Provider (PCP) and set up your initial appointment

At Cox HealthPlans (CHP), it is our goal to help our members “think health forward”.  Regularly visiting a PCP is crucial for overall health and wellness. Please make an initial appointment with your PCP and remember to see them at least once a year. If you do not currently have a PCP, call CoxHealth System’s (417)269-INFO line. They will help you find a provider and schedule an appointment.

Step 2 – Health Risk Assessment (HRA)

We encourage you to complete an HRA within 90 days of effective date of coverage.  This is at no cost to you and is another tool used by your care team to help determine any possible health risk factors you may be facing, which gives the team the opportunity to connect you with resources and promote education, coaching, and wellness activities based on your specific needs. Call (417)269-9140 directly to set up your time to meet with the CoxHealth Wellness team to perform your HRA. When calling the Wellness team, please let them know that you are part of Cox HealthPlans’ Marketplace plan. 

Step 3 – Member portal

Go to thinkinghealthforward.com and click on the benefits portal link to create your account. Here you will be able to access your certificate of coverage, rights and responsibilities, explanation of benefits, temporary or replacement ID card and many more features.

  • Our Blog page.
    • We post blogs at least quarterly to communicate wellness and seasonal information, as well as details about projects going on at CHP with Quality, Risk Management, Medical Management, and others.
  • Annual member satisfaction survey information, found on the Quality page.
    • We take member satisfaction very seriously at CHP. We encourage you to participate in our yearly survey to provide us valuable feedback. There will be communication about when and how to complete this.
  • Quality Improvement Program and project updates, as well as Medical, Risk and Utilization Management information found on the Quality Care page.
    • CHP strives to give members the best quality health plan and prioritize informing members about Committees, Projects, and Results of our activities.
  • Health Education and Wellness knowledge and documents, found on the Health Education Page.
    • Members can go to this page to learn more about the wellness activities and classes that CHP and CoxHealth collaborate to offer.
